What we collect

When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and (optionally) your phone number. When you post a listing we store the listing details and photos you provide.

How we use it

We use your information to operate the marketplace: to publish your listings, connect buyers and sellers, and keep accounts secure. If you opt in, we may also contact you by email or text with BarterBin updates, tips, and offers.

Marketing consent (CASL)

We only send commercial electronic messages to people who have given express consent (for example, by ticking the marketing box at sign-up). Every message includes a way to unsubscribe, and we honour opt-outs promptly, in line with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation.

Cookies, analytics & affiliate links

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and the site secure. We measure traffic with a privacy-friendly page counter, and we only load optional analytics cookies (such as Google Analytics) if you accept them in our cookie banner.

Some listings and pages on BarterBin contain affiliate links to retail partners. If you click one, the affiliate network (Rakuten Advertising) and the retailer may set cookies or use similar technologies to record that your visit came from BarterBin, so that we may earn a commission if you make a purchase. This click-tracking is handled by the network and retailer under their own privacy policies; we do not share your BarterBinaccount details with them. You can limit this tracking through your browser's cookie settings, and where required by law we honour opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control. Pages containing affiliate links are labelled with a disclosure.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from marketing messages at any time, decline optional analytics cookies, and request access to or deletion of your personal information by contacting us.
