Prohibited items and listing rules
These rules cover member ads, rentals, services, jobs and imported partner inventory. A product being lawful somewhere else does not make it eligible for BarterBin.
Do not advertise
- Drugs and cannabis: controlled or illicit drugs, prescription medicines (including veterinary medicines), cannabis, THC or CBD products, cannabis accessories, or services promoting their sale. No regulated-drug or cannabis seller program is currently offered.
- Other restricted products: alcohol, tobacco, nicotine or vaping products; firearms, ammunition, explosives and weapons. Ordinary tools and kitchen utensils must be advertised for lawful everyday use.
- Unsafe or unlawful goods: recalled products, goods that do not meet applicable Canadian safety requirements, stolen property, counterfeit goods or content that infringes another person's rights. Check the Canadian recalls database before listing.
- Scams and impersonation: fake verification notices, advance-fee schemes, phishing, fraudulent investment or pyramid schemes, forged documents and offers you have no right to fulfil. Do not impersonate BarterBin support.
- Discrimination: unlawful discrimination in housing, jobs or services. Describe the property, work or service. Any claimed legal exception needs a specific review.
- Spam or misleading listings: unrelated service promotions, duplicate bulk ads, scraped content without permission, false Canadian locations, bait prices or misleading condition and availability. Remote services must clearly say where the provider operates and who can use the service.
- Exploitation or abuse: sexually explicit services, threats, harassment or unlawful content involving people or animals.
Review, enforcement and appeals
Automated text checks can hold an ad before it becomes public, including edits and partner imports. They are an initial screen, not a guarantee that every unsafe ad will be detected. Images, subtle claims, recalls and context require human review. An automated match or report is not a finding of illegal conduct.
We may hide an ad while reviewing it, ask for corrections, keep it off the marketplace, or restrict an account for serious or repeated abuse. Moderation reasons for held ads appear in the owner's Account page. Reporters' identities and private evidence are not shown there. We retain decision records and relevant evidence; hiding an ad does not erase its conversations.
To appeal, email support@ring2revenue.ca with the ad link or ID, your account email and an explanation. Do not send passwords, verification codes or identity documents. A reviewer can correct a mistaken decision and restore an eligible ad. We do not guarantee a response time.
Report a listing, job or safety concern without signing in. Use Report message within a conversation for message abuse. For immediate danger, contact emergency services.
